Riding a motorcycle increases the risk of being involved in an accident, even when defensive riding is being applied with full observation of road traffic regulations.
As this picture shows, road accidents are no respecter of persons including personnel from the Ghana Police Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU)
Last Wednesday, two motor riders had a head on collision at the National Theatre intersection in Accra which nearly resulted in fatalities.
The National Road Safety Commission indicates that accidents caused by motor bikes have been increasing.

The result was attributed to the growing indiscipline and total disregard to the road safety laws by motorbike riders.
The situation has been worsened as result of the illegal use of bicycles for commercial purposes in which peoples sit at the back often without protective gears and are transported to their destination for a fee.
We therefore call on motorbike riders to be more careful when using the road.
