The 2023 national celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr took place at the Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, April 22.
In accordance with the celebration, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu led the event with prayers.
Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a period during which Muslims embark on fasting from dawn to sunset.
It is a time of official receptions and private visits with friends greeting one another, giving out presents and visiting the graves of relatives.
Present at the ceremony were Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, Samira Bawumia as well as other distinguished guests.
Although President Akufo-Addo could not grace the occasion, he shared his goodwill message with the Muslim community through a tweet.
“I pray that Allah accepts our collective prayers, continues to shower His grace, mercies and peace on our nation and makes her great and strong.
“I wish all Muslims blissful and peaceful Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations,” he tweeted.
The event also saw lots of Muslim celebrants on the street of Accra.
