Former President John Dramani Mahama was among high profile personalities who joined the family of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings to mourn the deceased statesman.
He was present at the burial service of the former President Rawlings held at the Black Star Square in Accra on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 where he condoled with the bereaved family.

In his tribute to the Founder of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), he said, “Shocking and unexpected are words that both describe your dramatic entry onto the political scene of Ghana and also your silent exit from this world.

"It would take a whole book to write a tribute to a man whose life was so eventful; a man who has had a profound impact on several generations of Ghanaians.”

The former President was buried at the Burma Camp Military Cemetery in Accra after a four-day funeral rite ceremony held in his honour.
He was 73 years old. He left behind a wife and four children.
