Former president John AgyekumKufuor on Saturday, December 13, 2014 graced the graduation ceremony of EKGS Culinary Institute at the National Theatre in Accra.
His presence at the well-attended event elicited rapturous applause and bewildered excitement with patrons screaming his name while a few on the high table could not resist the temptation to pose by the former president for the cameras. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity, they claimed.
President Kufuor who addressed the occasion in brief remarks, also presented the overall best student prize to the Rosaline Ampadu and later inspected an exhibition of cakes and other pastries mounted by the students.
The programme which coincided with the 15th Anniversary celebration of EKGS, saw 115 students graduating.
The event was under the Theme: Developing Solid Human Capital through Hospitality.
The students had undergone a six months courses in Cake making and Sugar Arts, Pastries Making, Cookery Arts and Ribbon and Floral Arts.
In his address the former president advised Ghanaian youths not to look down on their chosen profession but to persevere for success.
He told the graduating students that the vocations they had chosen for themselves compared favourably with any other, such as those in the health and education sectors.
What the graduates needed to succeed, the former president noted, was for them to persevere.
