Residents of Teshie in the Ledzokuku Constituency of the Greater Accra region Tuesday morning hit the streets of the town to protest against the poor nature of roads in the community.
They want the roads fixed as soon as possible, to lessen the burden on car owners and others who use the bad roads and must frequently fix their vehicles.
The orderly demonstration started early in the morning, with demonstrators clad in red T-shirts and armbands and carrying various placards voicing their misgivings about the situation.
“Our roads look like galamsey site”, “Mr MCE what are you doing about our roads”, and “Deathtrap potholes making our roads inaccessible” were some of the inscriptions on the placards.
Other placards also read: "We can't drive in the manholes any longer", "Our women are getting miscarriages because of the bad roads", Mr President, are we not fellow Ghanaians? Fix our roads" and "Our Ancestors are not happy with you. Fix our roads now!!"
Photojournalist David Andoh with Myjoyonline was with the over 1,000 demonstrators and brings us some scenes from the protest march.
