A 33-year-old physically challenged person at Nkankama, near Begoro, Tetteh Akweitey has been sentenced to six months imprisonment in hard labour by the Begoro District court for stealing two goats.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.Prosecuting, Police Detective Inspector Jonathan Amoh of Begoro told the court presided over by Mr Owusu Nsiah that, the Unit Committee at Nkankama on May 25, this year, had a tip-off that the accused person had stolen and tethered two goats in the bush.
He said when the Unit Committee members confronted the accused, he admitted the offence and led the Committee members to the bush to where he had kept the goats.
He together with the goats was sent back to the village where the owners identified and collected their goats.
Detective Inspector Amoh said the Unit Committee members then escorted the accused person to the Begoro Police station where he was processed for the court.Source: GNA
