The Peoples Independent Movement (PIM), the Veteran Cadres of June Four and the 31st December Women Movement, have congratulated Nana Akufo-Addo, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), President John Mahama and the nine Supreme Court justices for showing maturity in the eight-month hearing of the 2012 Presidential Election Petition.
A statement signed by Nana Addo-Aikins, Legal Practitioner and Convenor of PIM/VCM on Sunday, said unity and peace should pave way for rapid national development, which had long been drawn back by the petition hearing.
It said problems such as poverty, unemployment, ignorance, corruption and under-development as a whole, which had be-devilled the nation for a long time now, needed to be tackled in earnest through modernization and structural transformation of the system in accordance with the country's Constitution.
It thus congratulated the security agencies, the media, ministers of God, imams, chiefs, the Electoral Commission's Dr Kwadwo Afari Dyan together with governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the Ghana Peace Council for combining efforts in delivering the country out of possible calamity following the August 29, 2013 judgement which dismissed the petition.
The statement also expressed gratitude to all media houses for the roles they played during the case, adding that the fight for peace, unity and development must not fail.
