Child Rights NGO, Plan Ghana, has presented a cheque of 5,000 US dollars to 14 year-old Bridgette Koranteng who was diagnosed with a spinal complication. The country Director of Plan Ghana, Samuel Paulos, who presented the Cheque to the Foundation of Orthopaedicis and Complex Spine (FOCOS, GHANA), explained that Plan decided to support Brigitte after her appeal appeared in the Ghanaian Times.Mr. Paulos called on well-meaning people and organizations to support such worthy causes to give children a chance to realize their full potential. “We hope that by this gesture, other organizations and Philanthropists will also come on board to support children with such difficulties” Mr. Paulos added.Receiving the Cheque on behalf of Bridgette, the administrator of FOCOS, Dr. Paulette Opoku thanked Plan for the gesture and promised that Brigitte will be taken good care of. The operation is due in a couple of weeks time.Brigitte’s mother, Mrs. Koranteng thanked Plan and Ghanaian Times for the support and explained that her only hope is for Brigitte to be normal like any girl her age.Plan has been working in Ghana since 1992, helping poor children to access their rights to health, education, food security and protection.Plan’s programs benefit almost 30,000 children in 300 communities across the country.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
