Ghana’s 8th Parliament sat for the first time after the chaos that characterized the election of the seventh Speaker of the House on January 7, 2021.
Ahead of the sitting, some NPP MPs had stormed the chamber around 4 am to sit at the right-hand side of the Speaker so they can claim the majority status.
This follows a similar action taken by members of the NDC on the eve of the inauguration of the House.
Among other issues to be resolved by the House is a finality on who forms the Majority and Minority of the House.
