Pressure is mounting on Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, to resign following revelations in the report of the Parliamentary Committee that probed the Sputnik V vaccine contract.
According to the report, an amount of $2,850,000 out of $5,700,000 had been paid by government although Mr Agyeman Manu during the probe stated that “to the best of my knowledge, we haven’t done any payment”.
Also, it was reported that the Minister breached constitutional provisions on prior Parliamentary approval and the Public Procurement Act.
In view of this, the Minority in Parliament, Private Legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu, New Crusading Guide newspaper Editor-in-Chief, Kweku Baako Jnr and a cross-section of the general public on social media, with the hashtag #Agyemanmustgo, are calling for the immediate resignation of Mr Agyeman-Manu.
However, Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo Markin, says justice should be tempered with mercy.
Tonight, host of PM Express, Aisha Ibrahim and her panellists, Bernard Ahiafor, member of the ad-hoc Sputnik vaccine committee, anti-corruption crusader, Edem Senanu and Lawyer and Vice President of Imani Africa, Kofi Bentil delved deep into the matter to find out if these calls are justified.
