Tonight on PM Express, host, Evans Mensah and his panellists from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Virologist at the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research, Dr Michael Owusu, Immunologist Dr Yaw Bediako and CDD Health fellow, Kwame Asiedu Sarpong discussed the country's preparedness to handle a possible third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The concern comes at a time when the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has warned that Intensive Care Units in Accra’s major hospitals are being overstretched as the country deals with a surge in Covid-19 cases.
Many, including Global Health Expert at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR), Dr. John Amuasi have opined that the occurrence of a third wave of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana, is inevitable.
Such projections have been attributed to the surge in Covid-19 cases recorded in the country.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its latest update has revealed that as of July 14, a total of 382 new cases have been reported.
The Service added that Ghana’s active cases stand at 2,858, with the death toll rising to 812.
Although 98,817 cases have been confirmed, 95,147 persons have recovered and have been discharged from the health facilities.
