The People’s National Convention (PNC) has begun a search for a running mate to partner its flag bearer, Dr. Edward Mahama.
Dr. Mahama told Joy News there was a growing list of names that he is considering for the job.
Though no names were mention he did not rule out the possibility of choosing female vice presidential candidate.
“The person must be somebody with integrity, must be somebody that brings some sort of balance into the ticket to make sure that he complements my strength and minimises my weakness as a candidate”, he said.
He said he has confidence in women and that that informed his decision to choose a female running-mate in the 1996 elections.
The PNC presidential candidate also did not rule out the possibility of still having an alliance with the Convention People’s Party (CPP) after the first attempt collapsed.
The two parties entered into an alliance but the National Executive Committee of the PNC pulled out of the alliance citing mistrust for the CPP flag bearer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.
But Dr. Mahama says a deal can still be reached between the two parties.
That he said is the reason why he has not taken a definite decision relative to his running-mate.
