The People’s National Convention will contest the by-election to be held in Atiwa in the Eastern Region. The decision, among others, was taken after a National Executive Council Meeting held Friday.A statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Bernard Mornah said the decision to contest was based on a thorough repot provided by the party’s Eastern Regional Chairman. The Atiwa seat became vacant following the death of Mr. Kwasi Annor Ankamah early July. The Electoral Commission has scheduled a by-election for 31 August, 2010.The PNC is also asking the Convention People’s Party (CPP) to present its “formal position” on the issue of merger. The statement said the NEC is unhappy with “unscrupulous persons” parading as representatives of the party claiming to be leading the merger talks. The party also intends to hold a National Delegates Congress very soon.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
