The Police administration has given assurance of maximum protection to the travelling public and all Ghanaians in the face of recent increase in robbery cases on the highways. The police say it is taking all possible steps to boost the morale of personnel in the discharge of their duties. Acting Director of the Police Public Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur gave the promise when he spoke on Adom TV’s Morning Show Badwam on Multi TV on Monday after series of high way robberies were recorded over the weekend. The assurance comes on the heels of some drivers at Yeji in the Brong Ahafo region who staged a peaceful demonstration this morning to protest the rampant robbery cases in the area, especially highway robberies. DSP Cephas Arthur urged transport companies and Ghanaians to invest in their personal security and do more to collaborate with the police service with vital information to combat crime. Some of the drivers who ply the major highways in Ghana in an interview with Asempa News blamed the rampant armed robbery attacks on poor roads and lack of police patrols at remote areas and called on government to improve the road network and also deploy enough policemen on highways. The drivers said most of the armed robbers today board the buses as passengers whiles they communicate with their counterparts on where it is convenient to attack the buses. They claim some of the passengers too contribute with their insistence on urinating at every stop. Yaa Asantewaa/Asempa fm/Ghana
