Police in Ashanti have mounted a hunt for a group of thugs who last Wednesday stabbed to death a 17-year-old student of the Konongo-Odumase Senior High School.Gilbert Ntim-Mensah, a form two student died when the group attacked him and a colleague at about 6.30 p.m. at Amakom, in Kumasi.Armed with dangerous implements, the group was said to have demanded Ntim-Mensah’s bag, and a mobile phone but he refused and in the ensuing scuffle one of the robbers stabbed him with a double-edged dagger.As Ntim-Mensah fell unconscious, the robbers took the bag and the mobile phone and fled.A source at the Regional Police Command confirming the incident, told the Times that Ntim-Mensah and his colleague were heading towards Affoe-Nkwanta to join a vehicle to their school after closing from an inter-schools and colleges sports competition at the Baba Yara Stadium.According to the source, a team of policemen, led by Inspector Owusu Duah of the Criminal Investigation Department has been to the scene to look for clues.It said investigations are being conducted to find out whether the robbers were students or part of a group that has recently emerged in Kumasi and calls itself ‘Al-Quaeda’.Source: The Ghanaian Times
