Forty-three unregistered motorcycles were at the weekend impounded by the police at Bawku.Assistant Superintendent of Police Alex Acquah, Bawku District Police Commander, who briefed the GNA on the exercise, said the motive was
to rid the streets of the township of unregistered motorcycles. He observed that in spite of persistent arrests of such unregistered motorcycles, the situation keeps recurring, adding that it has been a source of worry to the police.ASP Acquah said most of the motorcycles owners could not produce customs documents covering the motorcycles, implying that they have evaded their duty obligations to the nation. He said the motorcycle owners would be arraigned and fined after which they would be made to pay duties on the motorcycles and register them before they would be released to them.Source: GNA
