The Accra Regional Police have asked the pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance, to call off its demonstration scheduled for next Thursday in Accra.
AFAG said it was staging the demonstration to draw government’s attention to the economic hardship in the country.
But the Police Administration says it cannot provide adequate protection for the demonstrators because it is focused on solving crimes, helping flood victims and making security arrangements for the visit of US President, Barack Obama.
A member of the pressure group, Daniel Ofori-Atta, told Joy News that with or without police protection the protest march would go ahead.
Reacting to the issues Director of Public Affairs Department at the Police Headquarters, DSP Kwesi Ofori, said the stance of the youth would be illegal.
He urged AFAG to postpone the demonstration to a later date when the police administration could provide the necessary protection members of the group need.
