The Eastern Regional Police Command is stepping up investigations into the involvement of a unit committee member in the public humiliation of an old lady
Kofi Yirenkyi is alleged to have been involved the beating and stripping of a 75-year old woman naked in public.
The woman, Elizabeth Odi, was beaten up by some young men at Dawu-Sanfo in the Akuapem North District after a fetish priest accused her of hiring thugs to kill his younger brother.
Mr. Yirenkyi was arrested but later granted police enquiry bail.
The police say they are investigating the matter and hope to arrest other suspects.
Sergeant Gideon Boateng who is Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police, told Joy News the outcome of their investigations will determine whether or not to charge the unit committee member for assault.
