Disqualified flagbearer of the New Vision Party(NVP)is claiming that the police have not invited him to assist in investigations into the alleged bribery scandals involving two officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).
Prophet Daniel Nkansah is wanted by police for allegedly bribing two EC officials with an amount of GH¢ 1,600 to enable him contest the December 7 general elections.
Prophet Nkansah has confirmed paying the money to the EC directors of elections Kofi Asumani and Asante Kissi insisting that they demanded GH¢ 10,000 and threatened to disqualify him[Nkansah] if he did not pay.
The two have been charged with bribery and corruption according to the Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Freeman Tettey.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Prophet Daniel Nkansah stated unequivocally that the police know where to find him if they intend to investigate the issue to its logical conclusion.
Nkansah contended that as a responsible citizen, he has booked an appointment with the CID handling the case to meet him Wednesday.
The NVP flagbearer said he has nothing to hide and ever ready to assist in police investigation.
He could not fathom why as the complainant, the police has totally refused to contact him and have gone ahead to declare him wanted while he walk freely in Accra.
Prophet Nkansah said he will present himself to the police and present video evidence to back his claim.
Contacted to ascertain the veracity of the NVP flagbearer’s assertion, DSP Tettey indicated that he [Nkansah] has been on the run since the case broke out.
He said the police in order to ensure fairness deployed detectives to the office of Prophet Nkansah earlier Tuesday but was nowhere to be found.
DSP Tettey urged the Prophet to quit the media war and assist the police in its investigations to unravel the mystery behind the case.
