The male motorist arrested for brandishing a gun while arguing with another person on a street at Winneba has been identified as a police officer with the Central Regional Police Command.
In a Facebook post, the Police noted that the said Sergeant who was arrested on April 2, has been interdicted.
His interdiction is to make way for a full investigation into the matter, according to the Police.
"The Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has also commenced investigation into the conduct of the police officer," the Service added.
The Police have in their custody the pistol used by the Sergeant.
In its update, the Police further revealed that the interdicted officer has lodged a complaint of assault against a group of persons present at the scene.
According to the Police Sergeant, he was attacked by a member of the group who wielded a cutlass.
Per the Police report, "both parties are assisting police investigations."
Both criminal investigation and professional standards investigation, the Police say, will run concurrently.
Meanwhile, the Service has assured members of the public that justice will be served.
