The Central North Regional Police Command has secured a 30-year jail term for Frank Owusu, popularly known as “Lifer”, after he was convicted of armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm.
In a statement issued Friday, October 3, the police said Owusu was arrested in connection with a violent robbery incident at Assin Praso in the Central Region.
According to the police, on March 29, 2025, Owusu stormed the residence of a victim at Assin Praso, where he robbed her of GH₵1,950 in cash and other personal belongings at gunpoint.
He fled the scene after abandoning a locally manufactured pistol but was later identified and placed on the Police wanted list.
Following months of tracking, police arrested Owusu on September 27, 2025 at his hideout in Assin Nyankomase, where he was positively identified by the victim. He was subsequently charged.
On October 1, 2025, he was arraigned before the Nsuaem Kyekyewere Circuit Court, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amo Yartey, where he pleaded guilty to both charges.
The court sentenced him to two months’ imprisonment for possession of a firearm without authority and 30 years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery. The sentences will run concurrently.
Police confirmed that the convict has since been transferred to the Ankaful Prisons to serve his custodial term.
ASP George Okrah, Head of Public Affairs for the Central North Region, assured the public that the Command remains committed to pursuing armed robbery cases to their logical conclusion and ensuring offenders face the full rigours of the law.
