Police in Obuasi say they are carrying out further investigations to determine whether to bring charges against Carl Wilson for concealing a loaded gun at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium during a premier league clash between Ashanti Gold and New Edubiase.
The match was consequently called off as a result of the incident.
This was contained in a report by the Daily Guide newspaper which stated that Mr. Wilson was arrested following a complaint that he had weapons in his possession at the stadium.
President Mills sacked Carl Wilson last year as head of the Confiscated Vehicles Committee for his alleged role in the disappearance of some of these vehicles.
Speaking to Joy News, the Obuasi Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt. Emmanuel Amissah said "we were hinted that there was this gentleman with a weapon on him so we accosted him and truly he was having a weapon-a pistol- on him as well as a bullet proof jacket and he indicated to us that he was from the national security, that is why he was wielding a weapon."
Chief Supt. Amissah comfirmed that the person upon investigation revealed that he was Carl Wilson. He said the police are therefore carrying out futher investigations before coming out with the the next course of action against him.
