The Ghana Police Service has issued a stern warning to the public following the widespread circulation of false claims on social media alleging an ongoing recruitment exercise a claim the Service firmly denies.
In an official statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, the Police Service clarified the matter unequivocally.
“The attention of the Ghana Police Service has been drawn to information circulating on various social media platforms regarding an ongoing recruitment exercise. The Police Administration wishes to categorically state that this information is false,” the statement declared.
The Service emphasised that any legitimate recruitment will be announced exclusively through its authorised channels.
“The Service has not announced any new recruitment exercise. Any recruitment exercise will be duly advertised through the official communication channels of the Service, including the official website, verified social media platforms, and the national dailies,” the statement added.
The public was strongly cautioned against falling prey to fraudsters promising jobs in exchange for money.
“The public is hereby advised to disregard such fraudulent claims and desist from engaging with individuals or groups who promise recruitment opportunities in exchange for money,” the statement warned.
On enforcement, the Police Service assured that investigations into these scams are ongoing, with those found culpable facing arrest and prosecution.
“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that it is actively investigating these fraudulent activities and persons found to be involved in such illegal schemes will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement confirmed.
Finally, citizens are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station.
“The public is encouraged to report any persons or groups engaged in these fraudulent activities to the nearest Police Station,” the statement concluded.
