The National Enforcement Body of the Code of Conduct of Political Parties is meeting to review the 2012 elections.The group is expected to make its position known to the public later today.Joy News’ Manasseh Azure Awuni, who has been monitoring event at the Institute of Economic Affairs where the meeting is taking place, said that all leading political parties are taking part in the meeting. Members of the National Democratic Congress, the New Patriotic Party, the Progressive Peoples’ Party, and the Peoples’ National Convention were all in attendance.The agenda is to review all aspects of the political electioneering period like security, campaigning and everything else that occurs during campaigns, Azure gathered.A section of the Political Parties Code of Conduct states that, "all parties and candidate shall undertake to accept election results declared by the Electoral Commission and its agents and not to create commotion or cause violence on the ground that they lost or even won an election.”It also requires all political parties to consent to use the due process of law and nothing else to resolve any grievances they may have with respect to an election.The Code of Conduct also charged them to openly restrain their members and supporters from reacting violently to election results.
