Hip life music is closing in on its tenth anniversary and the genre that started from a humble beginning of one man soldier, Reggie Rockstone, just translating American hip hop to suite the tastes of Ghanaian music lovers has now become one of the highest earning vocations in the country.
With its large following now, the countless number of fans that enjoy the genre can say, Nana Kwaku Duah, known in showbiz as Tic Tac is one of its main pioneers stepping into the scene with his ever popular ‘Philomena’. Ten years up the ages, Tic Tac remains a household name.
To round off his 10th anniversary in the hip life industry, Tic Tac threw a pool party dubbed ‘Tic Tac @ 10 Pool party' at the Yegoala Hotel on Saturday.
Musicians Tinny, Ruff N Smooth, OJ Blaq, Chemphe, FBS, Pope Skinny and hundreds of party goers and swimmers filled the Yegoala Hotel pool in solidarity with the man who has been tagged as Ghana’s Busta Rhymes or the Kangaroo Man.
After several hours of swimming and dancing competitions, the stage was set for performances from some of the artistes present.
From Pope Skinny, FBS, Chemphe, Ruff N Smooth (the swagger duo), the crowd kept dancing from the sounds each artistes was dishing out.
The man of the day, Tic Tac also got the chance to prove his worth and with the noble support of another hip life maestro, Tinny; the crowd virtually turned the two into their playlist.
From Tic Tac’s ‘Philomena’, ‘Kangaroo’, ‘Kwani Kwani’, ‘Bosoe’ and Tinny’s, ‘Ringtone’, the crowd sang along as 'part composers' of the tunes.
