The National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party is suspecting a possible attempt by government to cover up the alleged acts of corruption at the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA).Nii Allotey Brew Hammond's suspicion comes a day after President John Mahama instituted a committee to review findings of the report of investigations into the GYEEDA operations.The agency has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons following a Joy News investigation which unravelled allegations massive corruption in the operations of GYEEDA.A ministerial committee set up to investigate the alleged rot, corroborated most of the allegations made by Joy News' Manasseh Azure-Awuni.Even though the committee's report has been submitted to the president, it is yet to be published. But Joy News has intercepted the report and has been serialising the content, some of which indicts six top GYEEDA officials, three companies- Zoomlion, Rlg and Zeera.Early this week, the president instituted a committee chaired by Paul Victor Obeng to review the report of the ministerial committee and to restructure the GYEEDA programme, actions which have set many tongues wagging.On Wednesday, an anti-corruption group, raised issues about the president's commitment to fighting corruption.The Ghana Integrity Initiative said forming a committee to restructure GYEEDA is not the way to go in fighting corruption.An official of the company, said criminal findings have been made and the government has to take action on it.On Thursday, the PPP held a press conference, during which it chastised government for what it says is the lukewarm attitude adopted in dealing with the GYEEDA report.Nii Allotey Brew Hammond said for government to constitute another committee to review the report of a committee that investigated the rot at GYEEDA, raises questions about government's commitment to fighting corruption.He suspects government is trying to cover-up the findings of the report.
