Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Presidential Candidate for the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), has urged polling station executives of the party to ignore insults against them and campaign vigorously to win more members for the party.He said that the party was starting its political campaign with a call on the people of the Central Region to vote an incorruptible leader into government.The PPP, together with other political parties, suspended its campaign following the death of President John Evans Atta Mills.Speaking at the inauguration of the Effutu Constituency Executives of the PPP at Winneba, Dr Nduom said party members close to the people at the grass roots should endeavour to educate Ghanaians on the aims and objectives of the party.This, he said, would enable Ghanaians to make informed choices and vote for the PPP.Dr Nduom said elections were won by numbers and urged members to work hard for the party to come to power to properly manage the affairs of the country. He said the PPP was the only party that had incorruptible leaders and had the welfare of the people at heart.Dr Nduom said many of the challenges facing Ghanaians were as a result of the dissipation of public funds through corruption.He said a PPP government with him as the president was ready to put in place measures to fight corruption and do things that would show transparency at all times.“The foremost thing has to do with an incorruptible leader. We are going to talk about that till everybody listens in Ghana. We say we want peace. If we want peace, we must seek the truth. One of the fundamental truths we need to learn in this country is about corruption. Corruption is one of the things that is hurting us the most,” Dr Nduom pointed out.“When voted into power in the December elections, PPP will ensure that the national cake is shared fairly to the people irrespective of colour, religion, ethnicity and political affiliation,” he said.He pledged that if voted into power, neither he nor any member of his government would engage in any corrupt acts.He said their preoccupation would be to better the lot of the people of Ghana.“I want to stand on an anti-corruption, incorruptible leadership platform because we will deal with corruption. We are going to tell them that we have the funds, the money that we need to deal with education and health problems,” he said. The Central Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Mr Alfred Yarkwa, swore the Effutu executives into office.He urged them to be committed to the party and work towards its victory in the December general election.Dr. Nduom later introduced the party's parliamentary aspirant for the Effutu Constituency, Nana Owusu Ofori, to the gathering.Nana Ofori assured the executive and the entire supporters of the party of his readiness to cooperate with them, to ensure victory for the party in December.
