Yaa Aku, a 35-year-old pregnant woman, got drowned in a well at Ayibontey near Nsawam, at the weekend.
The brother of the deceased, Mr Appeah Kubi, told the Ghana News Agency that his sister, who was a “chop bar” operator at Aburi, travelled to Ayibontey to collect money from her husband when the incident happened.
Mr Kubi said the deceased was fetching water from the well when she slipped into it.
He said people around the area raised the alarm but before Aku could be rescued, she had died.
A report was later made to the police and the body of the deceased was conveyed to the Nsawam Government Hospital pending autopsy.
The Nsawam police when contacted confirmed the incident.Source: GNA
