An anti-corruption campaigner, Vitus Azeem has charged President John Mills to intervene in the award of contracts said to have been shared among party faithfuls in the Northern Region.
“The president must be bold enough to talk to these party supporters,” he pointed out, adding, if such actions go unpunished, “it will do a lot of harm to our country.”
Mr Azeem told Joy News’ Evans Mensah on Thursday.
Regional Minister, Stephen Sumani Nanyina and the regional chairman of the NDC Alhaji Sumani Zakari are accusing each other of grabbing contracts in the region.

In reaction, Stephen Sumani Nanyina said the regional chairman has grabbed six out of sixteen road contracts in the region and in addition has failed to execute a girl’s hostel at the Bagabaga Training College, six months after it was awarded to him.
These allegations Joy News’ correspondent Mahama Shaibu have caused tension in the region with the party youth planning to embark on a massive demonstration to register their protest over the unfortunate turn of events.
A youth activist of the party, Emmanuel Aboagye told Joy News the situation is “embarrassing.”
He said “the supporters are disappointed with the way and manner the two most powerful men are managing the affairs.
However, Vitus Azeem who is also the Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative said the allegations smacks of political corruption and need to be investigated.
“Party activists should not have any role in the award of contracts,” he sniped
