President Kufuor has called for the promotion of a decent work agenda to help advance the cause of workers and enhance economic growth particularly in poor nations.He says decent work, fair wages and pensions, social protection and inclusion must be appreciated as a pragmatic way of enhancing productivity for poor nations to facilitate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and poverty reduction.The President was addressing the 96th International Labour Conference, underway in Geneva, Switzerland.More than 3,000 heads of government, worker and employer leaders are attending the annual meeting of the International Labour Organization, which is discussing issues ranging from decent work and development to child labour in agriculture, fisheries sector, equality at work, forced labour and the promotion of sustainable development.President Kufuor said there was the need for Governments, enterprises and organized labour to recognize the challenges of globalization and work in concert to tackle them.
