President John Agyekum Kufuor has challenged members of the Judicial Service to be loyal and uphold the sovereignty and integrity of the state at all times.He said they would be doing a great dishonour to the state if for one reason or the other they fail to uphold the integrity of nation.President Kufuor threw the challenge when he swore four judges of the Supreme Court into office at the Credential Hall, Osu Castle.They were Her Lordship Justice Rose Constance Owusu, His Lordship Justice Jones Mawubom Dotse, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah and His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie.They swore the Oath of Office, Secrecy and the Judicial Oath after which they were given instrument of appointment to certify their appointment to the high office.Describing the Judicial Service as a pinnacle and interpreter of the national constitution, President Kufuor said the Service was a restricted membership of the critical body for the running of the state.“If you are being called upon to be a member of such a body, it means you are a special person in the nation. You are not just a good lawyer but a statesman,” he stressed.As they discharge their duties, President Kufuor told the newly sworn-in judges that they would come face-to-face with some political interpretation; hence they should have foresight to show that they deserve the appointment.“If you don’t have a descending quality, you may be endangering the integrity of the state.”He wished them well and reminded them that the nation was looking up to them to do their work well.Responding on behalf of judges, Her Lordship Justice Owusu expressed gratitude to President Kufuor for the great honour and confidence reposed in them.While asking all and sundry to remember them constantly in prayers, Justice Owusu pledged their commitment to work diligently, and said they would conscientiously carry out their functions in accordance with the Judicial Oath without fear or favour .“We would not do anything to make you regret appointing us to the high office. We would serve Mother Ghana and bear true faith with the Republic of Ghana,” she pledged.In attendance were the Chief Justice, Her Lordship Justice Georgina Wood; the Attorney General and Minster of State, Hon.
