President John Dramani Mahama has expressed sadness and shock over the death of His Excellency President Michael Sata of the Republic of Zambia.
“President Sata’s death creates a sense of loss in Zambia and leaves the people in a situation that many Ghanaians can identify with, considering the sudden death of President Atta Mills two years ago,” says President Mahama.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sata family and people of Zambia at this difficult time,” he added.
President Sata has demonstrated that anyone can rise from humble beginnings to the highest office of the land through passion, persistence and deep patriotism.

He may have changed party affiliations a number of times but stayed true to his political convictions as a social democrat and to his commitments as a public servant.
President Mahama, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, extended his deep sympathies and condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Sata, and to the Government and people of Zambia.
