President John Evans Atta Mills has joined the chiefs and people of Anlo to climax the celebration of Hogbetsotso za.
The annual event is being marked for the first time in 13 years following the installation of a new Awomefia, Togbi Sri, after the peaceful resolution of a protracted chieftaincy dispute which had persisted since the death of the Awomefia in 1998.
The festival has attracted several prominent citizens.
Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, said the President will use the occasion to call for peace and unity.
Meanwhile, the Anlo Youth Council has demanded investigations into the death of citizens allegedly shot by the police during disturbances on November 1, 2007.
The youth believe this will bring to rest all suspicions.
Hogbetsotso festival is celebrated to mark the escape of the Anlo people from the dictatorial rule of king Agokorli of Notsie in Togo.
Awomefia of Anlo called for dialogue with citizens in the Diaspora to address huge development gap in the traditional area.
Togbui Sri III noted the peaceful resolution of the chieftaincy dispute in the area would pave way for development.
According to him, citizens from the traditional area, especially those in the Diaspora, must show patriotism by investing back home.
He added that the Hogbetsotso festival was a fertile ground for such initiatives.
