President John Agyekum Kufuor has urged the senior national football team, the Black Stars to go all out and win the Ghana 2008 tournament to be hosted by the country from January 20.
He said “The whole nation is looking up to the Stars, our national team, to be victorious and lift the trophy once again. We count on the privileged players to conduct themselves in the true spirit of sportsmanship and patriotism. These same virtues should guide the behaviour of the general public even as we give unalloyed support to our team.”
President Kufuor made the remark when he addressed the nation on the eve of New Year.
He said the tournament will expose the country to the rest of the world and stressed how important it is for Ghanaians to extend all due courtesies to visitors to the tournament and make their stay a happy one and the entire tournament a success.
