President John Mahama commissioned a ferry and a water taxi at Agordeker in the Affram plains north district Thursday, to wrap up his 3-day "Accounting to the peoples" tour of the eastern region.
The commissioning of the new ferry has re-connected the Afram Plains area to Kpando-Torkor in the Volta region.
The presence of a new ferry in the area means economic activities in the area will receive a boost after almost ten years low economic activities due to a broken down ferry.

Agordeke, a fishing community, was one of the busiest commercial communities in the district but almost became a ghost town when the platoon broke down.
Commissioning the ferry, President Mahama said government was aware of the negative effect the absence of the ferry brought to the people during the 2012 campaign hence the provision of the ferry and water taxi.
President Mahama explained that the facilities would help reduce the incidence of boat accidents on the lake.
The President also gave the assurance for the rehabilitation of the Donkorkrom to Agordeke road.

At Ekye-Amanfrom and Adawso in the Affram plains south, dozens of National Democratic Congress (NDC) faithful mobbed the president on his entry to the district singing the president's praise for his transformational agenda in the area.

President Mahama in wrapping up his tour inspected a 120-bed capacity ongoing district hospital in Abetifi. He assured the chiefs and residents the facility would be completed early next year to serve them.
He took the time to inspect the Kwahu Water Project at Kotoso in the Kwahu East district. The water facility serves residents on the Kwahu ridge.
At Koforidua Zongo where he interacted with the chiefs and Imams where he enumerated some of the contributions and support of the Muslim community.
The President urged them not to be swayed by promises of the NPP since it's ploy to deceive them to vote in their favour.
Mr. Mahama at a meeting with the heads of Christian churches in the eastern region urged them to exhibit true sense of Christianity.
