The Head of National Nursery Teachers Training Centre, Mrs Evelyn Quarter-Papafio, has called on private schools to provide quality education as a way of improving standards in Ghana. Speaking at the launch of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Happy Kids School at Kwashieman in Accra, Mrs. Quarter-Papafio said schools must not focus on money alone, but quality. “It should be the responsibility of private schools to ensure that parents are reaping from their toil and that will only be attained if the schools make quality their priority,” Mrs. Quarter-Papafio stressed. She added: “As parents and teachers play their part, I would also want to urge our children to study hard and make good use of the facilities at their disposal to become responsible [citizens] in the future.” Also, Mrs. Quarter-Papafio advised parents to invest in the education of their children. She said parents stand to benefit immensely if they “sacrifice their own comfort and pleasure now to give education to their children” since such children grow up to become “responsible citizens”. She was full of praise to the management of Happy Kids School for churning out professionals at “enviable positions”. The Chief Executive Officer of Happy Kids School, Ms Jemima Nartey, revealed the school has plans to expand in the years to come. She lavished praises on parents who believed in the school by enrolling their wards that resulted in a mutual success. “Believe in us and we would give you the best. The challenges are there, but the rewards are many. I’m happy to see a lot of our past students at most of the leading universities in Ghana and that shows we are getting it right,” Ms. Nartey stated. Happy Kids School is one of the leading private schools in the Greater Accra Region. The school, which boasts of a state-of-the-art pre-school department up to the Junior High School level, would climax its two-decade old feat with a durbar at the National Theatre that is expected to be attended by Ghana’s Second Lady, Matilda Amissah-Arthur and a host of other high profile personalities. Happy Kids School can boast of alumni at the KNUST, University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast including other polytechnic and private tertiary institutions.
