The former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Professor Stephen Addae says the Chairman of National Accreditation Board, Professor Acheampong is not fit to chair the Board.
According to Prof. Addae, the Chairman of NAB is using what he describes as “the old 1960 mentality guarding the 21 century Educational system” which he says has a resulted in the poor education standards in the country.
He called for total overhauling and review of the Educational system in Ghana to help Private Universities and the people of Ghana.
Professor Stephen Adae made these remarks in an interview with Adom News on Sunday, during the Sixth Matriculation ceremony of Data Link University College in Tema.
The ceremony also marked the Investiture of Professor Seth A. Laryea as the third President of the College.
Professor Stephen Adae appealed to the government to take a critical look at the National Accreditation Board else Ghana’s education system will soon collapse.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board, Mr. Kwame Darttey who reacted on behalf of the Chairman refuted the allegations leveled against Prof. Acheampong, describing it as baseless.
Mr. Darttey challenged Prof. Adae to specifically point out which area the Board is performing below par.
He told Adom News that his outfit has put in place proper measures to help develop the educational system in the country.
He noted that the Private Tertiary Institutions have two representatives on the National Accreditation Board who serve the interest of the the private universities.
