The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills will address a news conference on Wednesday on the current energy crisis.Prof. Mills will use the occasion to criticize President Kufuor for giving Ghanaians the impression that his government would resolve the crisis within a fortnight of his speech when he presented the State of the Nation Address.Aides of the former Vice President say he will respond to pronouncements by government officials that some one billion dollars has been invested in the energy sector by the Kufuor administration. The NDC flagbearer is also expected to give an indication of how an NDC government under his leadership, will deal with the current crisis. Some leading members of the opposition party, including its spokesman on Energy, Moses Asaga and MP for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu have been critical of the government’s handling of the crisis. They have accused the administration of a lack of foresight to deal with the energy crisis.Government officials however say it was inevitable and that attempts are being made to improve the generation and supply of electricity.
