Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called on the Ghana Police Service to deepen its commitment to maintaining law and order by prioritising strong values over forceful displays of authority.
He made the appeal on Tuesday, January 6, during a historic courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the Police Headquarters in Accra.
According to the Asantehene, effective and sustainable policing must be rooted in professionalism, discipline and integrity, rather than intimidation or the excessive use of power. He stressed that lasting public order is achieved when law enforcement officers act ethically and win the confidence of the communities they serve.
“The future of public order lies not in louder sirens but in stronger values, supported by competent and disciplined law enforcement,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stated.
He further urged the Police Service to continue strengthening its institutional culture while adapting to emerging security challenges, noting that public trust in the police remains a vital pillar of national stability and social cohesion.
