All public sector workers should by September begin enjoying the enhanced salaries the single spine salary structure promises.
That is when the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission hopes to complete the migration process.
Following the completion of the process for the Ghana Police Service, Joy Business has learnt the least ranked officers who used to earn around 200 Ghana cedis now take home at least 700 Ghana cedis.
Chief Executive of the Fair Wages Commission, George Smith Graham tells Joy Business the September deadline is feasible.
“The implementation team made up of the Fair Wages Commission, Controller and Accountant Generals Department and members of the organized labour who are well vexed with the issues and they are working on this,” he said.
He stressed the team is in a hurry to get the single spine implemented in the interest of all the public workers.
The single spine salary structure promises enhanced salaries for about 70 percent of workers on government payroll based on their value and contribution.
It is expected to cost government some 4.4 billion Ghana cedis, over a billion more than government provided for in the budget.
