The Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC-Ghana) has expressed concern over government plans to privatise the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
In a statement from PUWU, the Minister of Energy has formed a committee to advance the privatisation process.
“We would like to assure our members of our resolve to resist any attempt by the government to privatise ECG. PUWU has not yet been engaged as a key stakeholder,” the statement read.
The union called on its members to stay calm while leadership takes the necessary steps to address the issue.
“Members are kindly requested to remain calm while we take appropriate steps towards achieving our goal. All should be on standby for any further direction,”
