Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta has accused National Security operatives of unlawfully raiding his residence and conducting an intrusive search that extended to unlikely places, including his fridge, freezer, plates, and cutlery.
According to court documents, Mr Ofori-Atta, who was out of the country for medical treatment at the time, stated that his Labone residence was placed under the care of his domestic staff.
However, on February 11, 2025, a team comprising National Security operatives, nine military personnel armed with assault rifles, and other individuals in plain clothes stormed the property without prior notice or legal authorisation.
He claims that the "raiding team" did not present a warrant or disclose the purpose of their operation.
The search reportedly covered all areas of the house, including bedrooms, closets, drawers, and even kitchenware such as plates and cutlery.
"The raiding team comprised heavily armed security personnel who scoured every corner of the property, including the fridge, freezer, cupboards, and car," the legal filing states.
Additionally, he said one of the operatives allegedly filmed the entire search using a mobile phone, capturing footage of private areas such as bedrooms and living spaces.
Mr Ofori-Atta contends that the unauthorised search violated his property and privacy rights, leaving his domestic staff traumatised.
He further alleges that the raid, which gained both national and international attention, has subjected him to public ridicule and tarnished his reputation.
