Can anybody, in all honesty, say that the Multimedia Group has been biased towards the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), asks Randy Abbey, host of Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme. According to him, the media group has been relatively fair in its reportage of government business. Mr Randy Abbey was commenting on the NDC government’s boycott of all Multimedia programmes and the subsequent ban of journalists from the media outfit to both state and party functions. Randy who was speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show Friday, chided government over the decision. As far as he was concerned, the NDC should have been the last political party to cry foul because the party has been overly favoured by one of the platforms of the group, Asempa FM. He said other programmes like Majority Caucus on Multi TV had provided the NDC government unlimited space to propagate its agenda. He therefore wondered why government would decide to boycott the stations. Randy said he would have been proud if he were the owner of the Multimedia Group because the situation – opposition NPP’s boycott of Asempa FM due to alleged bias and government’s boycott of the entire group for same reason - only pointed to the fact that the Multimedia stations are objective. Meanwhile Mr Kwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, urged journalist to be willing to accept and retract false stories they mistakenly publish and help foster the spirit of tolerance for Ghana’s democracy to thrive.”
