Pollster Ben Ephson says former President Rawlings will be happy to see the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) go to opposition.
Ben Ephson who is also the Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper noted that the apparent tension between Mr. Rawlings and national executive of the NDC makes him believe that the party does not accord him the respect he desired.
He stressed that Mr. Rawlings’ recent outburst against the party attests to the fact that he is no more in bed with the party he founded with his sweat and no longer cares if the party returned to opposition.
Ben Ephson made this assessment on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday following a statement the former President released on Monday over the suspension of his spokesperson Kofi Adams, who is also the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC.
Former President Rawlings in his statement said the NDC government was taking the country into an abyss but nothing was being done to reverse the trend.
“When you find yourself in an unintended pit or hole the wise thing to do is to stop digging. It does not appear the Mills government is able to see the growing darkness around them,” he accused the government in a statement.
But Ben Ephson noted that this statement indicated that he will not campaign for the NDC ahead of the December polls.
