The party is expected to elect a new Majority Leader for Parliament at its maiden National Executive Committee meeting currently ongoing in Accra. This is the first official meeting of the newly elected NDC executives. The founder of the NDC, Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings, regional chairmen and secretaries are attending the meeting. National Vice Chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, told Joy News the meeting will be both ‘cordial’ and ‘business-like.’ “The constitution demands that we have certain committee of the National Executive Committee. So we shall be looking at these things to put them in place so that they start work immediately. “And then also we will be listening to reports from the various regions and the General Secretary will also brief this maiden meeting since the congress; he has to report to the National Executive Committee...This is just to set the tone for what is before us before the congress,” he said. Meanwhile earlier Tuesday, Party Chairman Dr. Kwabena Adjei re-inaugurated a committee to oversee the construction of a new NDC National Headquarters. Committee Chairman Elizabeth Addy pledged that the project will be a reality. The nine-member headquarters building committee will select one of three sites for the project.
