An aide to former President Jerry Rawlings, Kofi Adams, has dismissed reports that Mr Rawlings broke into certain restricted sections of the Kotoka International Airport on Friday. He said on the contrary, the former President complied with all regulations and “never ventured into those areas.”The January 26 edition of the Daily Guide carried reports that the former President drove to certain restricted portions of the airport and capturing images of aircrafts.Mr Adams stated that on the said date Mr Rawlings visited the Ghana Water Company and the Kotoka International Airport to acquaint himself with conditions there. He said such information was necessary for him to better advise the ruling party if his views were sought.“Former President Rawlings is one person who will not advise out of nothing; he must know the situation before he speaks to it. He will not advise you based on information you provide him, he will advise you based on information he has,” Mr Adams said. The report about Mr Rawlings comes hours after his call on the President to dismiss security chiefs he believes were in bed with the former government.Responding to sentiments that Mr Rawlings’ comments were premature as the government transition teams are working on fixing the problems, Mr Adams responded “We run this campaign together.”“We were out there campaigning on issues of dealing with drugs, issue of dealing with the water problem and the issue of dealing with education and health problems.”He said the ruling National Democratic Congress has a mandate to implement its manifesto and that his boss’ adventures were, perhaps, part of the process of fulfilling the social contract the ruling party signed with Ghanaians.Story by Fiifi Koomson
