RE: NDC CAmpaign Song Launch
Â
The National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has noted with concern advertisements in the media to promote the launching of a song for the Party for the 2012 elections.
Â
The NEC wishes to indicate that management of the party has no knowledge of the song, and should not be associated with the launching ceremony scheduled for the International Trade Fair Centre, La, in Accra this evening.
Â
Although the NEC appreciates the zeal of its individual members and contestants to use the Party colours to promote events, including songs, we wish to caution that such events or programs must be implemented within the confines of the Party’s rules and regulations.
Â
The NEC wishes to remind the Party members and the general public that, the Party is yet to elect its Flagbearer for the 2012 elections in line with Article 43 of the Party’s constitution.
Â
It is therefore premature for anybody to be presented as the Flagbearer of the NDC for the 2012 elections before the Party’s special delegate’s congress which comes off in Sunyani on the 9th of July.
We hope the Party will not find any further reason to invoke any stiffer sanction beyond this caution statement.
Â
Â
Signed
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah
General Secretary, NDC
