Isco and Sergio Ramos struck twice in the space of five minutes as Real Madrid came from behind to beat Osasuna 4-1 and establish a six-point lead at the top of La Liga.
Zinedine Zidane’s side came into the game on the back of a disappointing Copa del Rey defeat to Real Sociedad during the week, but returned to winning ways at El Sadar, stretching their advantage at the top of La Liga ahead of Barcelona’s game away to Real Betis later.
It was Osasuna who took the lead, though, with Unai Garcia sending a diving header from a corner kick past Thibaut Courtois after losing Casemiro. However, Isco restored parity after 33 minutes, slamming home a finish after a scuffed Gareth Bale shot.
Five minutes later, Real Madrid had the lead with Ramos heading past Sergio Herrera, losing his marker following a Casemiro knock down from a set piece. The away side secured the points five minutes from the end when substitute Lucas Vazquez squeezed a finish through Herrera having been set up by Karim Benzema.
For good measure, Real Madrid added a fourth goal in stoppage time with another substitute, Luka Jovic, firing a finish high into the roof of the net after another turnover in possession. The pressure will now be on Barca to keep up with the pace being set by their rivals.
