The former Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party has warned former VRA boss Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby to desist from making uncharitable comments about the party and its star witness in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition or face their wrath.
Anthony Karbo described Wereko-Brobby’s recent comments about Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as “reckless” and “irresponsible.”
The enigmatic former VRA boss blamed the NPP leadership for the party’s defeat in the 2012 elections.
Apart from criticizing the party for going to court, Wereko-Brobby said the party’s choice of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as star witness in the petition is yet another incompetent decision they may rue when the judges finally give their ruling on the petition.
According to him, the party never bothered to seek guidance from the men who executed the 2012 general elections and even if they did, he was not convinced the party took the advice from the election experts.
He would rather the party chose its key officials who were directly involved in the organization of the elections.
Wereko-Brobby said Bawumia was clueless and showed very little understanding of the electoral process during his examination and cross examination and was rather obsessed with a vague pink sheet analysis.
He was full of praise for the NDC’s star witness Johnson Asiedu Nketia who claimed delivered a master stroke and dented the petitioners’ case in court.
His comments have attracted angry reactions from the NDC.
Anthony Karbo told Citi News the party would not be held hostage by a “a man who thinks he knows it all.
“If you are the nephew of Victor Owusu and so what?” the NPP former Youth Organiser said angrily.
He said the party’s youth will no longer look on for Brobby to defame the NPP and its star witness in the Election Petition.
Karbo did not however say what the party youth intends to do in the likely event Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby does not stop his criticisms.
Meanwhile, the Director of the NPP’s 2012 elections has denied claims by Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby that he was not consulted by the NPP leadership before putting its petition together.
According to Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, he was personally tasked by the party’s flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo to gather evidence across the 26,000 polling stations to facilitate the petitioners’ deposition in court.
He said together with all the members who were directly involved in organizing the 2012 elections they put together the petition that is currently before the court.
Bawumia alone cannot do this thing, he stated.
