Koforidua-based referee Isaac Quaye could face the wrath of the Referees Association of Ghana if it is found out that he took bribe to influence the outcome of a Division One League match which was played on Sunday.Referee Quaye's bizzare decisions denied the home team Zaytuna United an equalizer and is accused of aiding King Solomon Football Club to run away with a 1-0 win in their zone 3B match. Officials of Zaytuna later found 500 Ghana cedis in his bag after the match and accused him of taking bribe from the visitors. "It's not normal for a referee to come and officiate a match with such an amount. We asked the assistant referees and they said they knew nothing about it. So reported the case to the match commissioner," Chairman of Zaytuna Abu Lamptey told Ghanasoccernet.com “His performance was bad on the day and something must be done about. We began suspecting him after he disallowed and knowing what he has done, he ran away after the match. “We have reported the case to the football authorities and we hope they will act swiftly," he added. “We didn't attack or abuse him and we hope this will set an example because he was a disgrace to refereeing." Zaytuna turned in the equalizer when the ball was clearly off the line but referee adjudged the clearance by King Solomon to be legitimate. The Class One referee absconded after the final whistle to prevent any altercations with the home fans.
